DRESSAGE - WORKING EQUITATION - JUMPING. LESSONS & HORSE TRAINING
Bree has been an avid rider for over 30 years and working as a professional for over 20. She achieved her USDF bronze and silver medals on her beloved draft cross, Dante, competing with him through Intermediare. She is a USDF “L” graduate with distinction who has also had a successful career in show jumping. As a junior rider, she showed actively in regional Midwest circuits, both English and Western disciplines. Recently, Bree has become a leading voice on the East Coast in the emerging sport of Working Equitation. In 2021-22, she was Regional Champion and National Reserve Champion for advanced Level 6. She is a recognized professional instructor through USAWE and is cofounder of NYSWE. She regularly gives clinics around the northeast region in both dressage and working equitation. Currently, Bree is bringing along her young home-bred Oldenburg horses, Callisto and Anakin to compete in jumping and dressage, as well as client horses in training from beginning to advanced levels.
Bree enjoys teaching her students to become their own horsemen/women, encouraging critical thinking rather than just being “lesson takers.” Riding and horsemanship is an ongoing journey that doesn’t end. She encourages her students to ride and show if that is what they wish to do, but above all, she wants to teach them to listen to their horse, appreciate the small victories, and develop a relationship and foundation to build on for their entire career together.
Liz Louie believes in cross-training and a well-rounded equestrian education. Not only does she believe in creating good riders, but she believes that in order to ride well, you must understand the care and biomechanics that go into creating sound, happy horses. She competed through IHSA in her college career with the SUNY Geneseo Equestrian Team, and has ample experience both running and competing in the show ring. Post-graduation, she served as barn manager at a hunter/jumper facility and acted as show-groom and exercise rider for many horses competing at the upper levels. She also led a small riding program intended for beginner students to learn not only how to properly care for horses, but to ride effectively and with empathy towards their mounts.
Currently, Liz works under Bree at BR Sporthorses, and is in the process of training her yearling, Valeria. While at BR Sporthorses, Liz hopes to develop a riding program centered around a multi-faceted approach to horsemanship. She hopes this program will foster a deep love and respect for horses in all who take lessons with her.
